Fishin' for Letterboxes

Last weekend we attended the "Fishin' for Letterboxes" event in Eustace, TX. We really had a great time and I was able to log several letterboxes, exchanges, personal travellers and three locationless caches. We met many of the infamous letterboxers, many of whom we have talked to on the Letterboxing in Texas yahoo group.

Adam's Trails was there with a very unique log book. If you ever get the chance to meet her, definitely ask to see the book she has put together. It contains each clue in a plastic covered sheet protector with the stamp. The book is very professional looking.

We also got to meet Pawtrekker, who owned the "Cootie" letterbox I had picked up at the Grapevine Event. Barefoot Lucy was there, she is a very active person on the Letterboxing in Texas yahoo group and has been very helpful. Bloomin' Gramma Jo and Cancan drove up from Austin to meet us, that was a nice surprise. There were many others there and we really enjoyed putting faces with names and spending some time with them.

We had several travellers there this time. I had Message in a Bottle, Katie had Katie's Katch, and Taylor had G-Cleff. We also found Swimming Upstream while we were there, and several boxes that were planted during the event. On the way home we stopped and found The Drifter.

I managed to squeeze this one when we first got to the park. My daughter Katiefrog took the picture for me.

Swimming Upstream (by Adams Trails)

This one was in the park, a short distance from where the event was. The log this one is located behind seems to have some bees living in it. I'm glad I had Redoggy with me on this one!

Bee Careful (by Bailey's Bunch)

This one was also near the event area. We saw some beautiful purple berries along the way, that I later identified as "Beauty Berries".

LCNR - Trail Head Locationless Signs (by Fritoman) As the cache title says...

This one was an easy convenient locationless cache that we were able to get as we started our hike to find several boxes that were planted during the event along the nature trail.

Flying Egg, Ugly Duck and Flower

These three were planted during the event. I can't seem to find them in the letterboxing databases. We found Flower and Flying Egg fairly easily, but Ugly Duck was a bit more of a challenge. It appears others had trouble with this one too, since we were the first to log it. If anyone knows what it is listed under, please let me know, we'd like to log them online.

LCMU - AGGHHHHHHH ARACHNIDS APLENTY (by ftjak)

This one was a locationless cache to get a picture of a spider you encounter on the trail while boxing. We found this guy behind the bench we were told to stop and rest on while doing "Flying Egg".

The Drifter (by Adams Trails)

This is one we found on the way home. It is located in a cemetery near Purtis Creek State Park. The history on this one is interesting. Goshen was yet another city that was forgotten during the railroad boom. The only physical evidence left of it's existence is this cemetery.

LCGL - Woodmen Of The World (by Chance Encounter)

Another one we managed to squeeze in while doing the Goshen letterbox. The goal was to find a Woodmen of the World gravestone. Interesting history on these as well.
